AIG Hospitals to get Rs 800-cr, 300-bed oncology centre
Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals is planning to invest Rs 800 crore in developing a 300-bed oncology centre at their Gachibowli campus, for which the board has approved the acquisition of a Proton Beam Therapy system, an advanced radiation therapy system.
The centre will be the first in the Telugu states to provide proton therapy and third in the country.
Proton Beam Therapy was stated to be highly precise form of radiation therapy that targets tumours with exceptional accuracy, substantially minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissues. This technology was a gamechanger in treating complex cancers, particularly in children and adults with tumours located near critical organs.
AIG Hospitals chairman Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy informed that the Proton Beam Therapy will enable the hospital to provide comprehensive cancer care comparable to the best in the world.
For this, the AIG Hospitals has entered into an agreement to acquire 'Proteus One Proton Therapy System including Dynamic ARC' from IBA, a Belgium-based supplier of equipment and services in the field of proton therapy. It is considered to be the most advanced form of radiation therapy available.
With this new delivery technique called 'Dynamic ARC' proton therapy, the system will be the first-of-its-kind installation in South-East Asia.
"At AIG Hospitals, our unwavering commitment is to place patients at the heart of everything we do. The acquisition of the Proton Beam Therapy System and the strategic partnership with IBA represent a transformative step forward in our mission to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care," said Dr Nageshwar Reddy.
