AI’s benefits are huge, but guard against unchecked adoption, say experts

Hyderabad:Generative artificial intelligence can revolutionise education, healthcare and journalism with personalised education, advanced healthcare diagnostics, and automated investigative reporting, said experts.

Panelists who participated in the two-day Gen AI Bootcamp held in the city on Tuesday delved into the opportunities and challenges posed by this rapidly evolving technology, including ethical concerns, data privacy, and algorithmic bias, while emphasising its role in shaping a more inclusive and innovative future.

The bootcamp featured a panel discussion moderated by M. Melissa, American Spaces programming coordinator at the US Consulate Hyderabad. The panelists included Dr Uma Joseph, Principal of St Francis College for Women, journalist and oncologist Dr Chinnababu Sunkavalli.

They also cautioned against unchecked adoption, stressing the need for responsible usage to address biases, ensure transparency, and safeguard data.

Interactive sessions led by Anuroop Katukam, lead consultant, and Shaik Abdul Khadeer, managing director of The II Club, provided participants with hands-on experience in AI tools for content creation, code generation, and application development without coding. Specialised topics such as AI-powered tools for researchers and educators were also explored, aiming to equip attendees with practical knowledge to navigate the evolving technological landscape.

Participants, including students, educators, and professionals, engaged in discussions about how AI can mitigate job displacement and unlock new opportunities for innovation. The event also fostered dialogue on the critical role of generative AI in preparing the workforce for future challenges.
