Akbar Accuses BRS of Working for Its First Family

Hyderabad: AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on Friday accused the BRS of being only interested in guarding the interests of its ‘first family’ and creating a ruckus in the Assembly to safeguard them. He called on the Speaker to act against the BRS members for coming into the well of the House and milling around the podium.

Speaking in the Assembly as part of the discussion on Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights in Land) Bill, 2024, Owaisi called for a fresh survey of land and reminded that the Centre will fund the entire cost incurred for digitisation of records.

He asked the government to study the property management systems in the Netherlands, Singapore and Estonia.

“This is a sad day for Telangana. We have come here to represent people’s problems. But for the BRS, the issues of the first family are more important than the welfare of the people. Dharani was brought in to benefit one family and it was a means to enrich them. The right of members to discuss an important Bill is being disturbed by the commotion in the House,” he said.

Referring to the torn papers on the floor of the House, he said the situation represented the ‘kachra sarkar’ run by the BRS for 10 years. “They will be punished harshly in the next elections,” he said.

Referring to the slogan raised by BRS MLAs ‘Tanashahi Nahi Chalega’ against the Congress government, Owaisi said it was time they looked within. “They enjoyed the fruits of power and looted the state. The 2020 Act did not have a redressal mechanism for affected landowners. About 18 lakh acres have been kept in Part B. This denied rights on the land to lakhs of people,” he said.

Owaisi said that the Congress had promised to form a land commission but had only constituted a land committee for restructuring the Dharani portal. He stated that the recommendations of the committee and its findings were not known and called for redrafting of some clauses.

Calling for removal of unauthorised entries in the Dharani website, he wondered if sadabainama (agreement on white paper) were being considered why not allow registration of properties which were bought based on notarised papers in Hyderabad.
