All LI Schemes Will Be Fixed: Uttam

Nalgonda: Irrigation minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday said all lift irrigation schemes on the left canal of the Nagarjunasagar Project (NSP) would be repaired to provide irrigation facility. Lift irrigation schemes had met negligence by the BRS government during its 10-year rule, he said.

The Congress government had sanctioned funds for repairing lift irrigation schemes to bring them into utilisation of their maximum potential. Works on the Nellikal lift irrigation scheme would be completed as early as possible, he said at a Praja Palana Vijayosthavalu function at Gandamvarigudem on the outskirts of Nalgonda Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that the works of Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) were 65 per cent complete, and Brahmana Vellamla project by 77 per cent during the Congress government in undivided Andhra Pradesh. The works did not witness any progress during the BRS regime.

Venkat Reddy said that works of drilling of SLBC tunnel would resume in a month after drilling machines were brought from the US. He exuded confidence that the works would be completed in two years and would provide irrigation to three lakh acres in erstwhile Nalgonda district.

He said an irrigation facility would be provided to one lakh acres through Brahmana Vellamla Project in four months. He called upon Congress workers to strive for victory of the party candidates in the coming local elections.
