Alleti: Several BRS MLAs Want to Join BJP

Hyderabad: BJP Assembly floor leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy said many BRS MLAs are showing interest in joining his party and their names will be announced soon.

He lashed out at the ruling state government, saying unlike the Congress, the BJP would seek resignations of these MLAs before allowing them to join the party.

Addressing a press conference at the party office in Nampally, Maheshwar Reddy expressed displeasure over Assembly Speaker G. Prasad Kumar being reluctant to disqualify Danam Nagender as per the anti-defection law. Maheshwar Reddy said Nagender should have been disqualified within the stipulated period of 90 days.

He said the BJP wished to meet the Speaker to submit a disqualification petition against Nagender but the Speaker was not available.

Maheshwar Reddy said his party would send a petition to the Speaker through a registered post and another one through email.

“When Congress MLAs joined the BRS, A. Revanth Reddy as leader of PCC said he would sound ‘Chavu Dappu’ (death drum) before the residences of the MLAs. But the very same man is taking MLAs into his party by visiting their residences,” Maheshwar Reddy said.

Referring to alleged irregularities in the civil supplies department, Maheshwar Reddy said a scam of hundreds of crores of rupees took place by manipulating PDS rice stocks.

He said civil supplies minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy had failed to give a reply to several corruption charges levelled against him.

Maheshwar Reddy also charged that the Chief is camping most of the time in Delhi and was ignoring issues of unemployed youth and the health sector in the state.

Revanth Reddy showed more urgency to inaugurate a corporate hospital, but is not showing any interest in increasing a single bed in government hospitals, the BJP leader said.

He also condemned the promotion of a corporate hospital by a serving chief minister.
