Hyderabad: Former MP and backward caste leader R. Krishnaiah called on the political parties to give tickets to the candidates belonging to backward community in the forthcoming graduate constituency elections for MLC. He said seats should be allocated as per their ratio in population.
Expressing regret that the BCs were getting just 14 per cent share in the political representation; he said that the candidates belonging to BC were unable to win polls because elections are becoming money centric. Although, they constitute 56 per cent of the population but have just 9 per cent share in jobs, one per cent in the industrial sector, one per cent in the higher judiciary and five per cent in private jobs.Speaking further, Krishnaiah said that BCs should get their due rights constitutionally. Their share of jobs in the central government should be increased from 27 per cent to 56 per cent. Besides, the 16 lakh jobs in the central and public sector enterprises should be filled, Krishnaiah added.
