Centre directs 3 IPS officers to report to AP

In a major setback to senior IPS officers who were allocated to Andhra Pradesh but were working in Telangana, the Union home minister issued orders late on Friday relieving them from the Telangana cadre and directing them to report to their home cadre (Andhra Pradesh) within 24 hours.

Hyderabad:In a major setback to senior IPS officers who were allocated to Andhra Pradesh but were working in Telangana, the Union home minister issued orders late on Friday relieving them from the Telangana cadre and directing them to report to their home cadre (Andhra Pradesh) within 24 hours.

These officers include Anjani Kumar, Abhilasha Bisht and Abhishek Mohanty. These officers were allocated to AP after bifurcation in 2014 but they were continuing in Telangana cadre by obtaining stay orders from Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT).

Anjani Kumar, a 1990 batch IPS officer and former DGP, is currently chairman of the Road Safety Authority. Abhilasha Bisht, of the 1994 batch, is Director, Telangana Police Academy.

Abhishek Mohanty from the 2011 IPS batch is an SP rank officer and is Karimnagar police commissioner.

In October last, the Centre's department of personnel and training (DoPT) had issued orders relieving IAS officers Amrapali Kata, D. Ronald Rose, Vakati Karuna and M. Prashanthi from Telangana cadre and directed them to report to AP cadre.

These officers were working in Telangana cadre despite their allotment to AP cadre by obtaining stay orders from the CAT.
