Arabian Mandi Faces FSSAI Action for Food Safety Violations

Kitchen was found in a highly unhygienic condition with open dustbins and there were no pest control records.

Hyderabad: The Arabian Mandi at Sainikpuri was found compromising the food safety of its customers with serious violations pertaining to hygiene, use of ingredients and food storage.

Acting on a complaint, the state task force team inspected the establishment recently and found mayonnaise prepared with unpasteurised eggs. Its use has been banned by the state government. The officers destroyed about 1 kg of mayonnaise.

Secondly, the officers found 15 kg of marinated raw chicken stored for more than a week in an unhygienic refrigerator with rust and blood stains. The refrigerator was highly infested with cockroaches and so were the walls and pipes of the kitchen and the electric switch boards.

Roaches were also found on other raw material being used in food preparation. Kitchen was found in a highly unhygienic condition with open dustbins and there were no pest control records.

Moreover, synthetic food colours were being used in the preparation of food. Cooking oil was being used repeatedly.

The establishment did not have an FSSAI license displayed at a prominent place at the premises. Medical records for food handlers, FoSTaC certificates were not available. The officials said that the action is being initiated against the restaurant as per the provisions of the FSS Act, 2006.
