Army Gave Hasina 45 Minutes To Quit, Claims Awami League

Hyderabad: Following Sheikh Hasina's departure from Bangladesh, the Awami League (AL) has alleged that the Bangladeshi Army gave the Prime Minister 45 minutes to resign.

According to a member of the international committee of Hasina’s Awami League who spoke to Deccan Chronicle, she sought to address the nation before resigning, but Army Chief General Wakar Uz Zaman did not grant her that opportunity.

The Army Chief reportedly stated that the military was taking control of the country "for now," with plans to oversee the formation of a new government.

According to the Bangladeshi newspaper Prothom Alo, Gen. Zaman has already met with leaders from various parties, including the ex-premier Khaleda Zia's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jatiya Party, and Jamaat-e-Islami, to navigate the evolving political landscape.
