Arvind, Reddy seek time to appear in Formula E case

Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer and Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar and HMDA retired employee B.L.N. Reddy on Thursday sought more time to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in the Formula E racing case.

Though ED officials had asked them to appear before them on January 8 and 10, senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and Reddy sought time till Sankranti festival.

The officials appear to be in a wait-and-watch mode, as their petition was pending before the court. Based on the court orders, Arvind Kumar and Reddy reportedly sought time till Sankranti.

The ED officials, who have already registered cases in connection with the Formula E racing irregularities, have obtained data from the ACB and others. Based on the FIR registered by the ACB officials, the ED officials initiated a probe into the case and intensified the inquiries.

As part of the probe, the ED officials also wrote to a public sector bank at Himayatnagar seeking details of Rs.54-crore payment made by the former HMDA officer to the UK-based Formula E Racing Ltd.

Based on the details, the ED officials are likely to write to Formula E Racing Limited seeking details of their contracts, agreements made between the previous BRS-led Telangana government.
