Ask CVC probe on Amrut corruption: Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar demanded a Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) probe to expose the alleged corruption in the Amrut (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme in the state.

He alleged that the Congress and BRS governments had indulged in corruption while awarding the contracts of the scheme and were now engaged in a slugfest to cover up their corruption and divert public attention.

“While the Narendra Modi government launched the scheme to improve urban infrastructure, the BRS and Congress governments have indulged in large-scale corruption and deprived the people of benefits of the scheme. The BRS leaders have been charging that the Congress government indulged in heavy corruption in the scheme by allocating the contracts to their relatives and Congress is countering them with similar allegations. It is all a drama to cover up the failure of the Congress government in delivering six guarantees,” charged Bandi Sanjay.

In a statement, the minister alleged that the Congress and BRS leaders got huge commissions by awarding Amrut contracts to their favoured companies. “If the Congress government feels it was transparent in allocating works under the Amrut scheme, it must urge for a CVC probe. Otherwise, people will construe that Congress indulged in corruption and Congress and BRS are playing drams to divert attention from failure to deliver six guarantees and demolition drive carried out by the HYDRAA,” he said.
