Assistant Professor Caught Ragging Junior at Khammam Medical College

Both colleges have reported multiple ragging cases, with senior students and, shockingly, even an assistant professor being implicated.

At the government medical college in Nalgonda, two students from the 2020 batch were suspended for six months, a 2023 batch student for one month, and a junior doctor for three months after being found guilty of ragging juniors.

The incident, which occurred 15 days ago, involved victims from Kerala. Following a formal complaint, the college principal, Dr Ch. N. Rajkumari, initiated an inquiry and took disciplinary action against the perpetrators based on the findings of the inquiry report.

At the government medical college in Khammam, an even more disturbing incident came to light when an assistant professor, who was part of the anti-ragging committee, was himself found involved in ragging.

The assistant professor allegedly forced a junior student to shave his head. The incident began on November 12 when a student from Warangal joined the hostel. Seniors coerced him to cut his long hair, forcing him to visit a salon for a haircut.

Later that night, the assistant professor approached the junior student and took him back to the salon, compelling him to completely shave his head.

Following the complaint lodged by the victim, the college principal, Rameshwar Rao, removed the assistant professor from the anti-ragging committee and formed a four-member panel to investigate the matter.
