Bandi insists on Cong. 6G by Jan. 26
Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, criticised the Congress for diverting public attention from its unmet promises and claimed that the BRS has outperformed them. Speaking at a press meet at the BJP state office on Sunday, Bandi Sanjay alleged that despite being in power for a year, the Congress has failed to implement the six guarantees it promised.
Sanjay specifically targeted the "Rythu Bharosa" scheme, stating that Rs 18,000 per acre is still pending for 70 lakh farmers, totalling Rs 19,600 crore. He questioned whether these payments would be cleared by January 26, Republic Day, urging Congress to provide clarity on the matter.
Joined by senior BJP leaders Premender Reddy, N.V.S.S. Prabhakar and Gangidi Manohar Reddy, he highlighted the Modi government’s focus on infrastructure development. Sanjay pointed out that Rs 1 lakh crore has been allocated for road expansion in Telangana over the past decade, enhancing connectivity. Additionally, he mentioned the Central government's investment of Rs 18,000 crore in the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and the extension of rural roads through schemes like PMGSY.
With local body elections approaching, Bandi accused the Congress of leveraging schemes like Rythu Bharosa and ration cards for political gain, drawing parallels to unfulfilled promises made by BRS government, such as double-bedroom houses and job creation. He warned the people of Telangana against falling for what he described as the Congress’s deceptive promises.
Addressing financial concerns, Bandi said that the current government lacks sufficient funds, leading to delayed employee salaries paid in installments despite assurances. He revealed that Rs 10,000 crore for the latest Rythu Bharosa payments were raised by mortgaging TSIIC lands.
Further, Bandi Sanjay questioned the Congress’s commitment to implementing the 42 per cent reservation for backward classes (BCs). He suggested that Opposition leader K. Chandrashekar Rao should resign and hand over responsibilities to leaders like Harish Rao or BC MLAs Gangula and Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
