Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar along with BJP MLA K.Venkataramana Reddy, former MLC N.V.S.S. Prabhakar interact with social media workers of the BJP during MLC election campaign at a private function hall in Karimnagar on Sunday.
Karimnagar: Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, addressing a BJP campaign event in Karimnagar on Sunday, questioned Congress’s claim to represent teachers and unemployed youth. “Congress has never fought for teachers’ or graduates’ rights, nor opposed the controversial 317 GO or issues like unemployment and Group-I jobs,” he said.
During the event, attended by BJP MLA K. Venkataramana Reddy and former MLC N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, Bandi contrasted the BJP’s long history of protests, court cases, and even imprisonments over these issues with the self-serving movements of Congress and BRS. He recalled his own hunger strike at the Karimnagar MP office demanding revision of the 317 GO—a protest met with police violence and threats from the then CP.
Bandi cited numerous instances where activists in Nalgonda and Siddipet suffered brutal lathi charges while fighting for unemployed workers' rights. He credited the BJP for rectifying the 317 GO and ensuring timely salary payments to teachers, while accusing Congress leaders of demanding hefty commissions and corrupting the system.
He also highlighted the BJP’s consistent opposition to reducing BC reservations and including Muslims in BC categories under caste-based policies. “Only the BJP has truly fought for teachers, graduates, and marginalised communities,” Bandi declared, urging voters to support BJP candidates in the upcoming MLC elections.
