Bandi Sanjay Unveils State’s First AR-VR Lab in Karimnagar

Karimnagar: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR-VR) lab, established for the first time in Telangana, with MPLAD funds on the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at government ITI college in Karimnagar.

The AR-VR lab method of teaching was introduced in ITI colleges across the country under the National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI). Earlier, in only five states this method was introduced which included Assam, Maharashtra, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.

Students can learn and practise their courses such as electrician, wireman, welder, fitter, mechanical and tuner trades in the AR-VR lab.

After inaugurating the lab, Bandi Sanjay examined how different courses can be practised through the AR-VR method.

Speaking on the occasion, Bandi Sanjay said this is only a pilot project but necessary steps will be taken to expand the AR-VR lab fully for the benefit of students and ensure that every student who studies in Karimnagar ITI will get employment opportunities.

The main vision of Narendra Modi is to give more importance to skill development courses. It is not enough to simply educate children but they must be trained with necessary professional skills to compete in the job market before they graduate.

The ITI college was established in Karimnagar in 1994. In the past 30 years, technology has changed significantly. To keep up with the technological advancements and improve students' training, the AR-VR lab was established with MPLAD funds.

Previously, students were taught for only one hour in the lab and there used to be no personal monitoring due to a shortage of teachers. With AR-VR lab, students can practise for many hours keep track of time and can correct their mistakes. It also helps the students learn about new and updated machines as they come out, he added.
