Basar IIIT Limits Mobile Use, Students Allege Bid To Curb Complaints
Restrictions have been placed on mobile phone usage in classrooms, examination centres, libraries, laboratories and seminar halls.

Adilabad: The Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar, has reportedly imposed restrictions on the use of mobile phones in certain areas of the campus, including the mess, through an internal circular issued on Sunday.
According to authorities, the move is aimed at promoting discipline and encouraging students to focus on studies by reducing time spent on mobile browsing. Restrictions have been placed on mobile phone usage in classrooms, examination centres, libraries, laboratories and seminar halls.
Officials said students should exercise self-discipline in the use of technology, warning that excessive use of social media could adversely affect their lives.
It is learnt that while students are permitted to carry mobile phones to certain areas, including the mess, restrictions apply to their usage.
Students, however, criticised the decision, alleging that the circular followed recent incidents highlighting poor quality of food in the mess. They referred to photographs and videos circulating on social media showing a cockroach in an aloo kurma dish served during breakfast a few days ago.
They alleged that the restrictions in the mess were imposed after the issue gained attention online.
