BC Commission Urges Participation in Caste Re-Survey

Backward Classes Commission chairman G. Niranjan said the state government had undertaken the caste survey to provide reservations to BCs communities in the local body elections and asked those who had not participated in the first round to use the re-survey to provide their data.

Hyderabad:Backward Classes Commission chairman G. Niranjan said the state government had undertaken the caste survey to provide reservations to BCs communities in the local body elections and asked those who had not participated in the first round to use the re-survey to provide their data.

The government has undertaken a resurvey exercise until February 28 after controversy erupted over missing enumerations especially in the GHMC area.

Those who wish to become part of the survey can call on the toll-free number 040-21111111 and provide address, name and Aadhaar card number. The enumerators will visit the house and take the details. People can also visit the ward offices to give details or login at https://seeepcsurvey.cgg.gov.in/ and download the questionnaire. The filled papers should then be submitted at the ward offices.

He said the state had lost up to `6,000 crore Central share given to panchayats for development, as elections were not held to local bodies in time.

Addressing the media, Niranjan said, “The caste survey held recently by spending `160 crore is the only such exercise after the British held it in 1931. No such initiative was taken after that. The data will be useful in MPTC, ZPTC polls. With the term of municipalities including the GHMC ending in January, the data will be useful when elections are held to provide reservations.”
