ACB officials recover bribe amount from Excise SI and constable

Hyderabad:Two officials from the Prohibition and Excise department in Nirmal district were arrested by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday for accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000.
Patil Nirmala, 39, a Sub-Inspector of Bhainsa Prohibition and Excise station, was caught red-handed at her residence near Kamala theatre in the town, when allegedly she demanded and accepted Rs.10,000 as bribe from a complainant through excise constable Salike Sujatha, 36, for doing an official favour.
The bribe was demanded for taking action against persons, who were selling toddy illegally in the toddy selling licensed area of the complainant.
The tainted bribe amount of `10,000 was recovered from the possession of Sujatha at Bhainsa Prohibition and Excise station. The fingers of the right and left hand of Sujatha were yielded positive in the chemical test.
The ACB officials said that both Nirmala and Sujatha performed their duties improperly to obtain undue advantage and added that Nirmala had taken `5000 from the complainant to do official favour. The details of the complainant were withheld for security reasons.
