SHG women, youth should set up industrial units: Bhatti

Khammam: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka directed the officials to encourage the women of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to set up units in industrial parks and said the government would provide them with project reports of industries, explain marketing facilities and get bank loans during this effort. Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony for an MSME industrial park at Yendapalle of Madhira mandal on Monday, Bhatti said the SHG women have been availing `20,000 crore interest-free loans annually and there is a need to create awareness among them about the business opportunities and guide them to set up manufacturing plants.

The Yendapalle MSME industrial park is being set up over 55 acres of land with a `44 crore investment.

Bhatti said he was confident that the industrial park would be successful as it was close to the capital of Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada-Nagpur highway and Devarapalli greenfield highway.

Land would be allotted to entrepreneurs at reasonable rates in the industrial park and reservations would be provided to women and the members of SC, ST and BC communities in the land allocation.

Bhatti opined that over-dependency on agriculture would create problems during unfavourable weather conditions and there was a need to achieve comprehensive development by prioritising industrial and service sectors.

Talking about youth entrepreneurship, Bhatti said, “The number of educated youth is going up in rural areas and not everyone can get government jobs. The state government is ready to support these if they try to become entrepreneurs.”
