Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu directed Genco officials to speed up the pending electrical, civil and mechanical works by duly maintaining quality standards at Bhadradri Thermal Power Project (BTPP) in coordination with the BHEL, which is executing the project, against the backdrop of the zooming demand for electricity.
In a review meeting with Genco officials here on Sunday, he asked the officials to expedite construction of sheds for storing coal before the rainy season, railway line works from the mining unit of Singareni from Manuguru to BTPP and the staff quarters.
The officials stated that 201.30 acres of land acquisition works are underway for laying 18.67 km of railway line.
Bhatti insisted on ensuring that all works were completed within the deadline. He urged the chief engineer to ensure accountability for any delay and troubles in the plant and keep him posted. Any lapse on the part of officials in this regard would be taken seriously, he warned.
Asking the project director of ITDA to recruit local tribals in non-technical jobs, he said that the government was contemplating to involve local tribals in the brick-making industry from the thermal plant’s ash. The bricks would be used in the construction of 3500 Indiramma Illu units.
Bhatti also enquired about the progress of repair works of unit-1 generator transformer that was burnt.
Chief engineer P.V. Srinivas said that they have called for tenders to conduct the repairs. He also informed that they were purchasing another generator transformer as a spare to ensure that power generation will not be affected in case of any future mishap.
Bhatti wanted the officials to constitute a three-member committee to take up restoration works without any delay if any technical issue arises in power generation. The committee must discuss the issue in a time-bound period and submit a report to the power board to get its approval.
The meeting was attended by the energy secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Genco directors Ajay, Sachchidanandam, Laxmaiah and chief engineers Srinivas Rao, Ratnakar Rao, Jewa Kumar and Ram Prasad.
