Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka held a crucial review meeting with officials from the Northern Power Distribution Company Limited(NPDCL) of Telangana to assess the state's power situation amidst ongoing heavy rains. The video conference, conducted from the tahsildar office in Madira, saw participation from the company's CMD Varun Reddy, Superintending Engineers (SEs) from 16 circles, and 40 Divisional Engineers (DEs).
During the meeting, the Deputy CM directed the SEs to ensure an uninterrupted power supply across the state. He emphasized the importance of making alternative arrangements for power supply in areas prone to flooding, particularly in low-lying stations. Bhatti Vikramarka urged electricity officials to remain on high alert, given that the power sector often suffers the most during natural calamities.
He instructed the officials to be available 24/7 and to coordinate closely with collectors, police, and revenue officials to facilitate quick restoration efforts. The Deputy CM stressed the need for immediate repairs of power lines damaged by falling trees and ordered that additional electric poles, power cables, transformers, and other essential materials be kept on standby.
Furthermore, Bhatti Vikramarka advised the officials to utilize alternative arrangements from nearby substations if any station is temporarily incapacitated. He reiterated that all instructions from senior officials in the control room should be strictly followed.
The Deputy CM also expressed the state government's readiness to tackle the challenges posed by the heavy rains and urged the public to remain vigilant. He called for the evacuation of residents from old, dilapidated buildings to safer locations and assured that essential services, including power, would be maintained. Citizens were encouraged to report any power disruptions by calling 1912.
Bhatti Vikramarka extended his gratitude to the electricity department officials for their dedicated efforts and warned of strict action against any dereliction of duty.
