Bhatti Urges Congress to Promote Welfare Schemes Widely
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka urged party leaders and activists to actively disseminate the benefits of welfare schemes and development initiatives rolled out by the Congress government to the people and ensure the party’s win in the upcoming elections to local bodies.
“Congress cadre should take the welfare schemes and development programmes to the people. Our party should sweep the local body elections in the undivided Mahbubnagar district. You all should be partners in public governance,” Bhatti said while addressing a public meeting in Nagarkurnool on Sunday after launching several development programmes in the district.
The Deputy CM outlined key initiatives undertaken by the Congress government and said that distribution of ration cards will begin across the state on January 26.
"Free electricity is being provided to 48 lakh families. The government is spending Rs.12,000 crore annually to provide free electricity to 28 lakh agricultural pump sets. Indiramma houses will be constructed at a cost of Rs.22,500 crore. Each beneficiary will receive Rs.5 lakh after Sankranti," Bhatti said.
Over Rs.8,400 crore is allocated for farmer insurance, while Rs.22,000 crore has been deposited in farmers' accounts to waive crop loans of up to rupees two lakh each, he added,
The Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa scheme will provide Rs.12,000 annually to landless agricultural labourers from January 26, he said.
Bhatti criticised the BRS government, accusing it of financial mismanagement and neglect during its decade-long rule.
"The BRS failed to complete the Palamur Rangareddy lift irrigation project despite spending Rs.38,000 crore on it. The Congress government will complete the project within five years and help irrigate 12 lakh acres in the undivided Mahbubnagar district," he said.
