Bhu Bharati Act implementation from March: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: The Bhu Bharati Act, aimed at streamlining land administration and replacing the Dharani portal, will come into effect from March, said revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.

In an informal chat with mediapersons at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the minister said the Bhu Bharati Bill, recently approved by the Assembly, has been referred to Governor Jishnu Dev Varma for approval.

"The operational guidelines for implementing the Bhu Bharati Act are being framed, and it will take 30 to 40 days to finalise the process," Srinivas Reddy stated. Once approved, the Dharani portal will be phased out and replaced by the new Bhu Bharati system.

The minister stated that the gazette notification for the implementation of Bhu Bharati Act will be released once the Governor granted approval. He estimated that preparing the rules and guidelines for the Bhu Bharati portal would take another two months.

"The state government is committed to transparency and ensuring that the new portal addresses the loopholes exploited during the previous BRS regime," he said.

Srinivas Reddy said that a forensic audit has been ordered to investigate irregularities in the Dharani portal during the previous BRS regime. He alleged that government lands, including Bhoodan lands, were illegally transferred to private individuals through the portal.

"After Sankranti next week, we will hand over such land records for forensic audit. This will expose scams involving Bhoodan, endowment, and assigned lands," Srinivas Reddy said.

He further said that 2,000 acres of government land were encroached upon in Sircilla, the home constituency of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao. Additionally, irregular land deals in Rangareddy, Medak, and Medchal districts will be scrutinised as part of the audit.

"The 'political bombs' I referred to earlier in Seoul have started to explode," Srinivas Reddy said, referring to the ongoing developments in the Formula E Race case.

He said the judicial commission report on irregularities in power purchase agreements and power plants in Yadadri and Bhadradri thermal power plants during BRS regime has been submitted to the state government. The government has sought legal opinion on this report and will take further steps based on this.

Sriniavs Reddy said the judicial commission inquiry on irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project was going on and the report is expected shortly. He added that the investigation into the phone tapping case was also going on.
