Bhupalpally police held success meet violating MCC

Warangal: After having conducted the Lok Sabha elections peacefully in Maoist-hit areas on the borders of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district and Chhattisgarh, district police officials, under the direction of SP Kiran Khare held a success meet.

Senior police officials danced as DJs rendered songs at the Yellandu guest house despite the fact that prohibitory orders under Section 144 and the model code of conduct are in place following the Lok Sabha polls and ahead of Monday’s MLC byelection in the erstwhile Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam districts on Monday.

There are several areas in Bhupalpally district that are affected by Maoists. Just prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the banned outfit released warning letters while urging to boycott the elections.

But Khare took several preventive and precautionary steps apart from conducting awareness programmes among the people and ensured peaceful polling.

To mark its celebrations, and as sought by police officials, the SP conducted the success meet with DSPs, CIs, SIs and all others.

The police officials on Sunday morning released videos of a dance performance by the SP in Whatsapp group.

No sooner did the videos go viral on various social media platforms than the event drew criticism from political circles alleging that the officials had violated the model code of conduct.

Meanwhile, a police official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that their job was a risky and highly stressful job. Noticing this, the SP conducted a success meet so that we all could unwind and remove the stress. People from various sections appreciated the videos, he added.
