Bihar and UP Natives Petition Union Minister for New Trains to the Two States
Hyderabad:A delegation of Biharis living in the city met Union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai here on Friday and submitted a representation urging him to use his good offices and ensure introduction of additional trains to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
This has been a long-pending demand of those from the two states who have moved over here for their livelihood. They met the minister at the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Police Academy when he came for the passing out parade of IPS officers.
They urged him to take the initiative and ensure a new train from Secunderabad and Patna. They complained that railway authorities had all along neglected to develop this line. They pointed out that it was particularly tough during summer as they are subject to many ordeals. Although special trains are operated from time to time, they are not able to cater to the heavy summer rush to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, they said.
Members from Bihar Sahyog Samiti said that for many years, the only direct train for Bihar and Uttar Pradesh has been the Secunderabad-Danapur Express (Train 12791). Apart from this, there are some weekly trains going to Lucknow and other places, but most of the crowd goes to Varanasi and Patna.
New trains on this route will also help people from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh keen on pilgrimage tours to Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya, they said.
The delegation said that although they prefer to visit their hometowns for Chhath puja, Dasara and family weddings, due to non-availability of train tickets, they are forced to travel by buses, which can be an unpleasant long distance journey for the elderly passengers and pregnant women.
