BJP Challenges Government for Discussion on GO 317 in Assembly
Hyderabad: The BJP has reiterated the demand for a discussion in the Assembly on GO 317, saying that it has badly affected the government employees in their local status. The employees have been up in arms against the GO ever since a new system was formulated about service rules after the state was reorganised into 31 new districts from 10 in 2016.
BJP MLA from Adilabad Payal Shankar said the basis for a separate Telangana movement was the local status. Still, the same was ignored by the earlier BRS government while formulating the GO. He pointed out that the BJP has urged the Congress government at the business advisory committee meeting to conduct a discussion on GO 317 in the ongoing Assembly session. However, the government has not responded, he said.
The MLA demanded the state government to revoke the GO as it led to several discrepancies in seniority list after 31 new districts were formed. The GO does not consider the nativity of the employees while transferring them to other districts in allocating permanent posts, he said. He added that the employees, particularly teachers, have been complaining that the government had not considered allocating transfers for spouses in the same district.
