BJP hails inclusion of Martyrs Memorial in state logo

Hyderabad: BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy welcomed the Congress government’s decision to include the Martyrs Memorial in the state emblem, as it will recall the first phase of Telangana movement from 1969 to 1971 the the then Congress government was responsible for deaths of 370 martyrs.

Addressing a press conference, Maheshwar Reddy said the state government seemed to be rethinking on the state logo after facing criticism from different quarters. He asked whether it had the guts to remove Charminar as it reflected Muslim rule, associated with attacks on Hindu women, atrocities on innocent citizens. The BJP would remove such symbols after it comes to power, he said.

Expressing dismay over the government’s decision to remove Kakatiya Kala Thornam by stating that it represented a royal legacy, Maheshwar Reddy asked the government if it would change all the names associated with royal legacy. The invaders have renamed Edulapuram as Adilabad, Lashkar as Secunderabad, Indur as Nizamabad and Palamuru as Mahbubnagar. He asked the government to rename these cities since they also represent royal legacy.

Asking the government to revive the cultural heritage of Telangana in its true spirit, Maheshwar Reddy asked why the Revanth government is not removing the domes over the secretariat which were built to please AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. He also asked when the government will provide Rs 25,000 assistance to Telangana activists as it had promised before the Assembly polls.

Urging the state government to drop the case framed against youth during Telangana movement, Maheshwar Reddy stated that Revanth Reddy had turned out as a devotee of Sonia Gandhi, whom he had earlier allegedly termed as `Bali Devatha’.

He expressed shock for ignoring the role played by Sushma Swaraj, who played a key role in carving out a separate Telangana state.
