BJP Mahila Morcha Demands West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee's Resignation Over RG Kar Hospital Tragedy
HYDERABAD: The BJP Mahila Morcha led by state president Dr Shilpa Reddy took out a candlelight rally from Ambedkar statue to PVNR Marg, seeking justice for the medico of RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata who was raped and murdered.. The morcha demanded the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who also holds the home ministry, for failing to stop atrocities against the women.
Shilpa Reddy charged that a series of crimes had taken place against women in West Bengal which exposed the poor law and order situation in the state. In the RG Kar Hospital case, even after the postmortem report indicated gang-rape, and one week after the incident, the Mamata Banerjee government had failed to nab the culprits. The tacit support from the Mamata Banerjee government was helping criminals to roam openly, she charged.
Shilpa Reddy demanded a protection law for practicing doctors and stringent punishment for those who attacked the RG Kar hospital. She also condemned the derogatory comments by Mamata Banerjee on women.
