Hyderabad:BJP leader N. Ramchander Rao accused AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi of misleading the Muslim community about the amendments to Waqf Act by stating that the amendments would benefit only Shia community and Pasmanda Muslims.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Rao said that women and other neglected sections among the Muslims would get representation in the Waqf Board after the Bill is passed.
Appealing to Muslims to join the BJP in large numbers, he said that the BJP has set a membership target of 50 lakh members in the state. Party chief J.P. Nadda has set a 25-lakh membership target by September 25, the birth anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee.
The second phase of the membership drive will see leaders and activists of all frontal organisations at public places to enroll people.
