BJP to plant 5 lakh saplings for Jan Sangh founder

Hyderabad: The BJP has initiated a large-scale sapling plantation campaign, urging its activists to plant at least 5 lakh saplings across the state. This initiative, targeting all 35,000 booth limits, aims for a minimum of 10 saplings per booth. Additionally, important members of society are encouraged to plant another 1.5 lakh saplings in the next 15 days, commemorating the sacrifice of Jan Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for the unity and integrity of India.

At a press conference held at the state party office in Nampally, former MLA and BJP vice-president Yendala Laxminarayana mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had planted a sapling on World Environment Day, on June 5, at Buddha Jayanti Park, under the initiative 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (A Plant in the Name of Mother). Laxminarayana appealed to BJP activists to follow suit by planting saplings with their mothers or in their mothers' names. This plantation drive will continue until Mukherjee's birth anniversary on July 6.

BJP leaders will visit every booth on July 5 and 6, holding corner meetings with members from Shakti Kendras to recall Mukherjee's contributions and plant saplings. Laxminarayana said that Mukherjee sacrificed his life on June 23, 1953, advocating for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with India, a goal achieved by the abrogation of Article 370 under Prime Minister Modi's government.

During the press conference, BJP official spokesperson Rani Rudrama, BJYM leader S. Mahender, and BJP leader Ranji Mohan distributed saplings to the heads of the party's various frontal organisations, encouraging them to involve cadres in the plantation programme.
