BJP will form government in 2028 in TG: Gudur exudes confidence

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state executive committee member Gudur Narayana Reddy here on Thursday exuded confidence that BJP would form the next government in Telangana if the results of the Lok Sabha polls are any indication.

Analysing the Lok Sabha poll results which were announced on June 4, he has stated that the BJP has the bright prospects to form the next government in the State in 2028. “The party has led in about 45 Assembly segments,” he pointed out.

Reddy informed that the BJP has won about 76.47 lakh votes in the LS elections in Telangana. He said that it was a record of sorts as far as the electoral history of the BJP is concerned in the State since its inception. The party has won eight seats with handsome majority in the recent LS polls.

He said that the party has secured 35.08 per cent of votes in these elections and emerged the second largest party in the State. The Congress was in the first place with 40.10 per cent of votes, whereas the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has gone down to poor third place with 16 per cent of the votes.

The BJP leader said that these elections have made it amply clear that popularity of the BJP is on the rise in the State. He said that since 2019 Lok Sabha elections the BJP is on the steady rise in the state.

“We have won four Lok Sabha seats in Telangana in 2019, won Huzurbad Assembly Constituency, secured good number of divisions in GHMC elections, and won eight seats in the Assembly in general election in the state in 2023,” he said.

He said that in 2019 Lok Sabha elections the BJP has got 19 per cent of vote share and was polled about 36 lakh votes. It has doubled its vote share in the recent LS polls. In the 2023 Assembly elections the party has got about 32 lakh votes.

He said these numbers clearly reflect the growing clout of the party in the state. Another five per cent of votes would catapult the party in to the power in the state in the next general elections to the Assembly.

Refuting the remarks of the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy that the BRS has deliberately channeled its votes to the BJP, Narayana Reddy said that it were the people who have voluntarily and enthusiastically voted to the BJP in big numbers.

He stated that in the LS polls-2024 the Congress secured lead in 65 Assembly segments whereas the BRS has secured poor third position by leading in just three Assembly segments. “It seems that the BRS is almost wiped out in the state,” he observed.

Mr Reddy said that the Congress could not implement its promises in the state due to financial constraints and would lose its sheen and shine in the coming few years. The financial burden due to the promises it has made and implementation of the schemes of the previous government would cripple it.
