BJP Won 8 Seats With BRS Support: Shabbir
Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and adviser to the state government on SC, ST, BC and minorities, Mohammed Ali Shabbir, thanked the people of Telangana, particularly the minority communities, for helping the Congress win eight out of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Shabbir Ali alleged that the BJP's victory in eight other seats was a result of a clandestine alliance with the BRS. He pointed out that the Congress had taken all precautions to prevent the BJP from polarising the Lok Sabha elections. Despite provocative speeches by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah, the Congress maintained its strategic approach and countered the situation diplomatically. Consequently, the Congress secured eight seats, marking a significant increase of five seats compared to the 2019 elections.
Accusing local BRS leaders of supporting the BJP, Shabbir Ali pointed out that their assistance had facilitated the BJP's victory in constituencies such as Secunderabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Chevella, Malkajgiri, Adilabad, Medak, and Mahbubnagar. "The Lok Sabha election results have exposed the BJP-BRS nexus, which has been ongoing since 2014," he claimed.
In a statement on Wednesday, Shabbir Ali attributed the Congress’ success to the nearly 100 per cent minority vote share, particularly from Muslim and Christian communities, across all 17 constituencies. He highlighted that the Congress’ vote share in the Lok Sabha elections had surged to 41 per cent, up from 39.5 per cent in the Assembly polls, due to the support from minorities.
