BJP’s Kishan Dares Telangana CM for Debate on HYDRAA

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy dared Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to join him to debate HYDRAA demolitions at any location where houses were demolished on the Musi riverbank. He challenged the CM to convince the poor about the genuineness of the demolition drive.

Asked why the BJP was not ready for talks with the state government on the encroachment of waterbodies and the demolition drive at the Secretariat, as was offered by the Chief Minister, Kishan Reddy told media persons that he was ready to represent the poor at any place of the Musi banks.

Kishan Reddy said the houses were constructed on the banks of the Musi about 30 to 40 years ago when the Congress was in power. It was unfair to demolish the houses of the poor as the state government had laid roads, given door numbers, collected property tax and provided Aadhaar numbers at the same addresses all along.

Kishan Reddy asked how the government would beautify the riverfront without diverting the sewage lines that flow into the Musi. “Where is the detailed project report for the beautification of the river? If the state government wants to beautify the river by selling Race Course land and other parcels, it is a hasty decision.”

He asked the government to explain how it would raise Rs 1.5 lakh crore for the Musi development and said the costs incurred for the Ganga Rejuvenation Plan and Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project were much less. Kishan Reddy demanded that the government construct a retaining wall for the river.
