Blacklist Contractors Defaulting on Timely Delivery: Bandi

Karimnagar: BJP leader and Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay on Tuesday demanded action against contractors who form cartels and fail to deliver projects within time in Karimnagar parliamentary constituency.

The minister urged the district collectors to blacklist defaulting contractors and issue notices to them under Section 60. The minister participated in the district development and monitoring committee meeting at the collectorate in Karimnagar.

Speaking at the meeting, Bandi Sanjay expressed displeasure over poor performance of government hospitals despite significant funding from the Centre to education and health sectors.

Highlighting lack of basic supplies and malfunctioning of equipment in hospitals, the minister expressed concern over the plight of the poor who rely on government facilities.

He ordered collectors to conduct a thorough probe into allegations of large-scale irregularities in the National Health Mission appointments and take action against those responsible for this.

Seeking clarity on Smart City Project works, the minister stated that the Centre would release funds only after pending works were completed. He said fresh projects would be approved only after the completion of the existing ones.

He criticised the practice of cooking midday meals with firewood despite free gas connections. There will be health risks to hundreds of schoolchildren with emission of smoke from firewood. From now on, all schools within Karimnagar and Sircilla districts should cook food on gas stoves, he ordered.

He appreciated the officials for providing aids to people with disabilities in Karimnagar and Sircilla districts and directed officials to gather details on the remaining needs and costs so that all disabled individuals receive necessary equipment. If required, he said he will sanction funds from MP LADS.
