Bogus Caste CERT. Cases Galore Ahead of Census

Nizamabad: Ahead of caste census to start from November 6, bogus caste certificate cases have come to the fore in north Telangana districts. People created bogus caste certificates in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts to claim reservations in education, employment and political postings.

Usually, Schedule Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and ‘A’ group certificates in Backward Classes (BC) obtained by ineligible persons gain opportunities in education and government jobs.

Some government teachers submitted fake ST and BC certificates to get jobs and inquiries are continuing for long.

According to official sources, two bogus caste certificate cases in Nizamabad district and three bogus caste certificate cases in Kamareddy are under inquiry.

Officials at the collectorate were not willing to reveal the details of the bogus certificate cases to Deccan Chronicle. There are allegations that bogus caste certificate beneficiaries manage a few officers not to conclude the inquiry on bogus certificate complaints.

For instance, on the pretext of the Reddika community, forward caste and BC-D group people entered into Reddika to claim BC-A reservation.

By managing corrupt revenue officials, they obtained bogus certificates and got government jobs. Showing bogus certificates as a reference, others are pressuring revenue officials to issue similar certificates to them.

Reddika (BC-A) is a fishermen community in north Andhra districts in united Andhra Pradesh. But, a few people wrongly entered the community from other castes. Surprisingly, a few Reddy youths also claimed Reddika certificates in north Telangana districts. Dimera Kapu was a strong community in north Telangana districts, but now they have disappeared from social the landscape.

Bodhan municipal chairperson Thumu Padma is facing charges of bogus caste certificate. Her political opponents said Padma and her husband Sharath Reddy belong to Reddy community and with the help of BRS leaders they got bogus BC certificates and she was elected as municipal chairperson. There is no inquiry against them so far. The couple resigned from the BRS and joined the Congress.

SC, ST and BC organisations are demanding the state government to carefully conduct the caste census. If anyone submits false information during the caste census, criminal cases should be registered against them, they said.
