Book Fair Aftermath: NTR Stadium in a Mess
HYDERABAD: The state of NTR stadium, strewn with debris after the hugely popular annual Hyderabad National Book Fair concluded on December 29, has drawn the ire of hundreds of children, aged persons and locals who use it on a regular basis.
Although it has been over a week since the book show ended, the ground’s management is yet to remove the temporary sheds and carpeting installed for the fair.
The fair occupied nearly 60 per cent of the stadium’s 14-acre land. Now walkers, youth and children are finding it difficult to walk, go about their exercises or play in what remains of the space. Carpets, banner material, shelves and other trash are across the ground.
Many are questioning why the organisers have not cleared the area and blamed the authorities for their laidback approach that has resulted in litter all over.
Chandrashekar, a regular visitor to the stadium, said “It is meant for the public, especially children and fitness enthusiasts. With a majority of the stadium space still having makeshift sheds and litter, the remaining space is cramped and remains a health hazard.”
