Books are indispensable for today’s youth: Dattatreya
HYDERABAD: The third day of the 37th Hyderabad Book Fair was graced by Haryana governor Bandaru Dattatreya, who turned up in the evening.
Accompanied by the book fair president Yakub and secretary R. Vasu, Dattatreya went around various stalls and interacted with visitors and asked about their book choices.
Addressing the media later, he praised the efforts of authors in bringing ideas to the public.
“Books are essential for shaping character and gaining knowledge. They are indispensable for today’s youth,” he said.
Meanwhile, Saturday saw a footfall of 50,000 visitors, who were treated to a series of cultural and literary activities.
A ballet on the life of Telangana poet Dasharathi Rangacharya was presented under the direction of his daughter Indira Parasharam. The performance was scripted by Telangana Sahitya Academy’s first chairman, Nandini Siddha Reddy who depicted important moments from the poet’s life and the Telangana armed struggle. The ballet was performed by students of the Thrailokya Art Association.
On the literary front, the fifth edition of Mroyu Thummedha, a work by Jnanpith awardee Viswanatha Satyanarayana, was unveiled by Acharya Veludanda Nityananda Rao. Another launch, Velugu Vaipuga by Dhoopati Prabhakar, was presented by poet Yakub.
