Boy allegedly dies by suicide at private school hostel in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 12-year-old student from Narayana School in Hayathnagar tragically died by suicide. The boy, a Class VII student, was residing in the school’s hostel. His parents have accused the school management of harassment, alleging their son was subjected to mistreatment.
According to the police, Lohit had been expressing concerns about his health and the hostel environment for the past two months. He reportedly told his parents about his struggles with illness and reluctance to stay in the hostel. Despite this, the family advised him to continue his studies until the end of the school year.
On Monday night, after dinner and study hours, Lohit’s roommates found his room locked from the inside. The school management was informed, and after breaking the door open, they found the boy unresponsive. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The news devastated his parents, who staged protests near the school premises, demanding justice. In an emotional statement, the grieving father accused the school of harassment, stating, “We spend lakhs on our children’s education, and this is how we are repaid – with a dead body. No other parent should go through this. My son had expressed concerns about harassment from his physics teacher, which was reported to the management but went unaddressed. Despite attempts to transfer Lohith to another branch, the principal allegedly refused to meet with them.”
A case has been registered under Section 194 BNSS, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
