Hyderabad: After having arrested irrigation department’s assistant executive engineer (AEE) Herur Nikesh Kumar for amassing illegal assets, ACB officials are now focussing on senior officials and office staff suspected of accepting bribes.
Nikesh Kumar has been working in the irrigation and command area development (CAD) Hyderabad, for the past ten years. The ACB officials wonder how he was continuing in the same post in the same office for over a decade.
The arrested accused was produced before the court and shifted to jail. ACB officials are likely to file a petition seeking his police custody for questioning in order to get more leads into the sordid corruption. He and his senior officials jointly issue NOCs related to buffer zones. As Kumar has amassed illegal assets worth more than Rs 100 crore, his senior officials could have also received bribes is the focus of ACB investigation.
