BRS Launches Helpline for Grievances on Loan Waiver
Hyderabad: The BRS on Monday launched a helpline number for farmers who have not received the loan waiver amounts, as it accused the Congress government of selectively implementing the scheme.
Former agriculture minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy said the helpline will be available round the clock and his party will help farmers pursue grievances related to the waiver. Niranjan Reddy, along with party MLA K.P. Vivekanand, told reporters that the Congress government was insincere in implementing the waiver programme.
Niranjan Reddy said around 45 lakh farmers were eligible for the scheme (under Rs 1 lakh loan) but in the first two instalments of the programme, the government had cleared dues of only 17 lakh farmers.
“Where have the rest of the farmers gone? Why is the government not declaring all the data with respect to farm loans and the number of farmers who obtained such loans?” he asked.
The government was attempting to portray as if it has removed the loan burden of all farmers while in reality, only a section of farmers have received this benefit, he said.
“There are many errors and a large number of farmers are left out. Our party has set up a WhatsApp helpline 8374852619 to help those who have been ignored by the government or are facing issues with the loan waiver. Anyone contacting it will receive help from our party in pursuing his or her case,” he said.
