BRS Leaders Draw Flak After Villagers Blame Suresh for the Unrest

Hyderabad: The BRS leadership was subject to an embarrassing situation in Lagcharla, when the locals said the key accused B. Suresh had visited the village a day earlier and compelled them to join the attack on Vikarabad collector Pratheek Jain and revenue officers during a public hearing meeting on land acquisition for setting up a pharma unit.

Days after BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao admitted Suresh into the party fold, Lagcharla villagers started accusing Suresh of creating the law and order issue and bringing a bad image to the village.

BRS legislator P. Sabita Indra Reddy visited Lagcharla to console the people. Much to her embarrassment, the villagers said that Suresh had instigated villagers.

The video went viral across social media platforms. "Suresh deliberately created nuisance in the village. He came from Hyderabad a day before the public hearing and provoked the villagers with false statements," Lagcharla residents told Sabita Indra Reddy.

Meanwhile, the police have intensified efforts to collect leads in connection with the incident. The investigation officer was directed to strictly monitor developments in the court. When former MLA Patnam Narender Reddy was being taken in custody as per court directions, the police officers were instructed to arrest all absconding accused and question them together with the BRS leader to establish the offence in attacking the district collector and revenue officers.

Vikarabad police focused on cash distribution to people for flaring up hatred against the government during the public hearing and reportedly recorded statements of the arrested accused and of villagers. The police are likely to conduct a forensic audit on call data and mobile phones.

Meanwhile, Rama Rao visited Sangareddy jail and met the inmates and assured all necessary assistance to the family members of the arrested persons and their family members. They would fight legally before the court of law. He also warned the government not to arrest him on flimsy charges in the Lagcharla incident.
