BRS MLA Booked for Abusing and Threatening SHO Banjara Hills PS
Hyderabad:City police on Wednesday booked cases against BRS legislator P. Kaushik Reddy for threatening and obstructing the Banjara Hills station house officer from performing his duties. According to west zone DCP S.M. Vijay Kumar, the incident occurred around 3 pm, when SHO K.M. Raghavendra was leaving the police station on an emergency field duty. A group of persons led by Kaushik Reddy stopped the vehicle and demanded he get down at once.
The inspector told them that he was on a time-bound emergency duty, and that they could submit their grievance at the police station or await his return, but Kaushik Reddy and his followers started obstructing the SHO’s vehicle and abused and threatened him, Vijay Kumar said.
As the situation was going out of control, the inspector got down from the vehicle and called them to his office and heard their grievance.
Based on the complaint given by the inspector, a case in crime number 1127 of 2024 has been registered for the offences of unlawful assembly using force for obstructing the duties of a public servant; criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, public nuisance and rioting against Kaushik Reddy and others.
Investigation is under progress and action will be taken against Kaushik Reddy and others as per law, Vijay Kumar said.
Kaushik Reddy later a complaint alleging that his phone was being tapped and sought action. “I have noticed suspicious activities related to my phone conversations, leading me to suspect that my personal phone calls are being tapped,” said Kaushik Reddy in his complaint.
He claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IG Shivadhar Reddy were involved in the operation. “This has severely breached my personal privacy, it has put my safety at significant risk,” he alleged.
SHO Raghavendra said, “We will take a legal opinion and act as per the law.”
