BRS MLA Kaushik Reddy Seeks HC Relief in Suicide Threat Case
HYDERABAD: BRS Huzurabad legislator Padi Kaushik Reddy approached the Telangana High Court seeking quashing of criminal proceedings against him in a case related to his threat to die by suicide during the Assembly elections campaign in 2023.
Reportedly, Kaushik Reddy, during a roadshow in Kamalapur, had on November 28, 2023, had said that he would take out a victory rally if he was elected, or die by suicide on December 4 along with his wife and daughter if he was not elected. The utterances went viral and the Election Commission considered it as violation of the model code of conduct.
Based on a complaint, Kamalapur police registered the FIR and filed a chargesheet. The criminal proceedings are pending before the trial court. Reddy requested the High Court to quash the same on the grounds that neither the FIR nor the chargesheet disclosed about the custody of the CD which was collected from the complainant, while the chargesheet was silent about investigations into his statements.
