BRS MLAs’ case postponed to March 4

Mukul Rohatgi, representing the Assembly secretary, was absent.

Hyderabad: The Supreme Court bench comprising Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Vinod Chandran heard the defection petition involving BRS MLAs. However, Mukul Rohatgi, representing the Assembly secretary, was absent. The bench adjourned the case to March 4.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, along with MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and Vivekananda, filed a petition against BRS MLAs Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Sanjay Kumar, Kale Yadaiah, Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, Prakash Goud, Gudem Mahipal Reddy, Arikepudi Gandhi, Danam Nagender, Tellam Venkatrao, and Kadiam Srihari, who shifted their loyalties to the Congress.
The Supreme Court combined the petitions and took up the case. Previously, the bench questioned the Speaker on the timeline for deciding the disqualification of the MLAs. When the Speaker requested more time, the court asked whether 10 months wasn’t a reasonable period to make a decision.
