BRS plans Sunday strategy meet for Assembly session
Hyderabad:The BRS on Thursday said party president K. Chandrashekar Rao, will hold a meeting with party MLAs, MLCs on Sunday at his farmhouse in Erravalli village in Siddipet district ahead of the Legislative Session set to begin on December 9.
The meeting is expected to discuss the party strategy for the sessions, and the issues to be taken up. The party has already decided that it will hold the Congress government on its failed promises, and suppression of dissent, party working K.T. Rama Rao said on Thursday.
He also reiterated the BRS’ opposition to the government’s plans to instal the ‘Telugu Talli’ statue in the Secretariat, declaring that once the BRS returned to power it would make changes to the statue and restore it to its original spot opposite the Secretariat where a statue of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was installed by the Congress government recently.
Earlier in the day, Rama Rao, and senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao said that BRS leaders were placed under house arrest to prevent them from protesting how the government was suppressing democracy.
“BRS leaders and workers are being arrested on flimsy charges and cases and the government on Thursday did not even allow us to go to the 125 feet tall Ambedkar statue to pay respects to that great leader on the occasion of his death anniversary,” Rama Rao said.
