Modi's May Day Gift Of LPG Price Hike Must Be Rolled Back: KTR
He said the hike would severely impact the common man and break the backbone of households already struggling with rising costs.

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday demanded an immediate roll-back of Friday’s price hike on commercial LPG gas cylinders, calling the nearly `1,000 increase as an “unheard of act in the country’s history.”
“This May Day gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi will severely impact the common man, breaking the backbone of households struggling with rising costs. Workers in hotels, small businesses, and those dependent on self-employment will be the worst affected by this arbitrary increase,” he said.
Rama Rao, addressing May Day celebrations at Telangana Bhavan, the BRS headquarters, demanded immediate roll back of “this unprecedented burden on the poor and working classes.” He said a commercial LPG cylinder now costs `3,315 in Hyderabad and this can force restaurants and hotels to shut down, putting lakhs of workers at risk of losing their livelihoods.
The Centre did not even spare the smaller LPG cylinders used by bachelors and low-income groups, he said.
He said the falling value of the rupee, coupled with skyrocketing fuel and gas prices, had made life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens. The Prime Minister once advised youth to “make pakodas” for livelihood, but has now made sure that even that cannot be done now due to the high cost of LPG cylinders, he added.
The BJP government at the Centre had been “looting” the public by increasing fuel prices through heavy taxation and cess, pushing petrol prices from around `65 to `110 to `120. “The arbitrary increase in petrol, diesel, and LPG prices has triggered inflation across sectors,” he added.
