BRS Will Continue Fight for Gurukul Students: Rakesh Reddy
Warangal: BRS leader Anugula Rakesh Reddy alleged that the Congress government was quelling his party leaders by using police force from entering Gurukul Residential institutions as part of the Gurukula Bata programme to know about the issues being faced by the students across the state.
Along with corporators Radhika Reddy and Ravi Naik and other party leaders, Rakesh Reddy tried to inspect the Social Welfare Residential School at Madikonda in Hanamkonda district on Tuesday.
However, the police foiled them from entering the school. A heated argument took place between the BRS leaders and police personnel creating a tense atmosphere. However, the police brought the situation under control by arresting and shifting them to Madikonda police station.
Rakesh Reddy stated that they wanted to interact with the students to find out their problems and not for political interests.
Unlike in the past, 49 students studying in various government institutions died and about 1,500 fell ill due to food poisoning, he alleged.
The students in Gurukul residential schools were spending more time in hospitals than in schools due to poor maintenance of schools, he rued. When everything was going fine with the state-run educational institutions and welfare hostels, why the government was not allowing opposition leaders to interact with the students, he questioned.
The BRS would not budge and continue to fight till the Congress government takes immediate measures to provide Gurukuls schools and welfare hostels with all kinds of facilities and quality education to students, he warned.
