Cases Filed Against S.R. College for Encroaching Siddeshwara Temple Land

Earlier, Consumer Council national general secretary Sambaraju Chakrapani and Kakatiya Varasatva Parirakshana Samithi president Chikati Raju lodged a complaint with the endowment department 10 months ago. They accused the S.R. College management of encroaching approximately nine guntas of land in survey number 882, which pertains to the Siddeshwara Swamy Temple, and provided evidence to support their claims. However, the endowment department officials failed to file a case or take any action against the college management.

Frustrated by the inaction, Chakrapani and Raju approached the Lokayukta and filed a petition in court. When the Lokayukta requested the endowment department officials to appear for an inquiry, the officials sent executive officers in an attempt to evade the investigation.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the negligent behaviour of the endowment department officials, Lokayukta Justice C.V. Ramulu ordered assistant commissioner R. Sunitha of the endowment department to be present before the court on Monday, November 11. Sunitha appeared in court on the specified date and requested an extension of two months to submit a detailed report on the land encroachments, not only concerning the Siddeshwara Swamy Temple but also other temples in Warangal and Hanamkonda cities.

Justice Ramulu, however, denied the extension, granting only 15 days for the officials to submit the report by November 25. In court, executive officer Prasad informed Justice Ramulu that tribunal cases had been lodged not only against the S.R. College management for encroaching nine guntas of the Siddeshwara Swamy Temple’s land but also against other land grabbers who encroached 13 guntas of land belonging to the Ranganayaka Swamy Temple.

After reviewing the arguments, Lokayukta Justice Ramulu postponed further inquiries until December 31.
