Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has stated that the state's caste survey will serve as a roadmap for the country in conducting a caste census.
During his visit to Delhi, the CM spent an hour with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, discussing the latest political developments in Telangana. The caste survey and SC categorisation were key topics in their conversation.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Revanth Reddy emphasised that the caste survey will help shape welfare schemes effectively. "Telangana is setting an example in conducting a comprehensive caste survey and SC categorisation. I will follow what Rahul Gandhi advises," he said.
He further mentioned that based on the survey’s findings, the government would consider forming a committee or commission to ensure welfare schemes reach the deserving sections of society.
On political defections, Reddy stated that the government would act in line with court orders. Addressing the controversy over his remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he clarified: "I never made personal comments about Modi. I only stated that Modi, by birth, is not BC. However, leaders like Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay are distorting my statements."
He also dismissed speculation about Cabinet expansion, saying it was not discussed with Rahul Gandhi. However, he confirmed that the government would introduce a bill on SC categorisation during the upcoming Budget Session.
