CBI court takes up discharged petitions of accused
Jagan disproportionate assets and Viveka murder cases
HYDERABAD: The CBI court in Hyderabad on Friday heard arguments in the discharge petitions filed by the accused in the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy disproportionate assets case and also the CBI case pertaining to the murder of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy. Judge T. Raghuram adjourned the hearing to June 24.
In the Vivekananda Reddy murder case, arguments went on for a long time. The court also heard the petition filed by Shaik Dastagiri, an accused-turned- approver in the murder case, before the CBI court requesting the court to delete his name from the accused list and consider him as evidence.
Counsel for Y.S. Avinash Reddy, Kadapa MP and accused no. 8 in the case, argued that the CBI was giving VIP treatment to the hired killer Dastagiri, rather than as an accused in the murder of Vivekananda Reddy. The counsel argued that it is not justifiable to name a hardened murderer as a witness just because he has become an approver. Counsel for CBI did not object to removing Dastgiri's name from the list of accused and added him to the list of witnesses. The court adjourned the case to July 5.
